At the seat of the 152nd Session of the Illinois Annual Conference (2023), she was appointed as the Presiding Elder of the South District of the Illinois Annual Conference. Presiding Elder Johnson is the proud wife of Brother Maurice Johnson and they have been blessed with five wonderful sons and two wonderful grandchildren.

Beliefs

We believe in the transformative power of Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross. We are sinners saved by grace, and our mission is to share that grace and love with our community. With our welcoming environment and passionate congregation, we work to create a space where all people are free to explore their faith and grow in their relationship with God.

Our beliefs can be summarized in the Apostle's Creed

"I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried;
on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Universal Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

So...How do I enter into a relationship with Jesus? According to Romans 10:9, "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."  So what does it mean to be saved? It means you believe in and rely on the death and resurrection of Jesus as payment for your sin and that as Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, conquering the penalty of sin and giving us victory.
